week 6

This is quite challenging I am not sure if I know exactly what the beat is and how to identify it. I have been doing my best to apply the readings to the material and the exercises but I am pretty sure I don't have it down and trying to memorize this script is hectic.

  1. Think of a beat as occurring when something changes. You start a new beat when you set out on a new tactic.

Think of the following scenario. You have a cat and your cat wants to get on your lap. Your cat starts first by just jumping up. You push the cat off. A new beat starts. This time your cat tries to sneak up, jumping first on the couch and then walking slowly over to you. Again you push the cat off. The beat ends, a new beat starts. Your cat this time jumps on the couch, and lays next to you, then the cat lays its head on you. You scratch its head, it puts a paw on you, you pet it gently. It slowly adjusts its body to be on your lap. You pet it. The scene ends. The cat successfully got into your lap. Each time you pushed it off it tried a new tactic and new beat began.
